Sometimes, the support that makes the biggest difference comes from someone willing to lend a hand, offer a lift, or simply show up.
Why volunteers matter
Everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and connection.
But for many people in rural and regional Australia, everyday support is difficult to access.
Something as simple as getting groceries, preparing meals, attending appointments, or maintaining a home can become a challenge when services are limited and support networks are stretched.
Project Black Hole exists to help identify those gaps and connect communities with practical support.
Because no one should be left without help simply because of where they live.
Why volunteers matter
Many people can continue living independently when they have the right support around them. But in rural and regional communities, that support is not always available.
Sometimes the challenge is getting groceries. Sometimes it's having a way to get to an appointment. Sometimes it's help with everyday tasks that many people take for granted.
These needs may seem small on their own, but together they can have a significant impact on a person's wellbeing, independence, and connection to their community.
That's where our volunteers make a difference.
Ways you can help
There are many ways to make a difference. You don't need healthcare experience. You don't need special qualifications. You simply need a willingness to help.
The level of support will vary depending on individual needs, community resources, and volunteer availability.

We're looking for people who care about their communities and want to make a difference.

Do I need experience?
Some volunteer roles that involve working with vulnerable people require a valid Blue Card.
To help remove barriers to volunteering, Project Black Hole will assist eligible volunteers with obtaining a Blue Card at no cost.
